Most dictation apps park a bar at the bottom of the screen. Precis puts a small capsule beside your text cursor, with the icon of the app it's about to type into, so you know where the words will land before you say them.

Precis takes out the ums, drops the false starts and applies your “no wait” corrections before anything is typed. Each rule acts only when it's sure, so real sentences are left alone.

No. Precis turns speech into text on your Mac, and Styles are written by Apple Intelligence on the same Mac. It goes online only to download a speech engine once, to confirm your licence about every two weeks, and to check for updates.
Yes. Once the speech engine has downloaded, you can turn Wi-Fi off and keep dictating.
Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 26.5 or later. Styles need Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings. Without it, Precis still types clean text; it just doesn't reshape it for each app.
Any app where you can type: mail, browsers, chat, code editors, Terminal and documents. Precis recognises Mail, Gmail, Outlook, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Slack, Messages, WhatsApp, Notes, Notion, Obsidian and more, so it can pick the right Style. In Safari, Chrome and Arc it reads the tab's title, so Gmail and ChatGPT work in the browser too.
